I am a trained, qualified hypnotherapist and specialise in Past Life Regressions. I do despair of the amount of misinformation about hypnosis and felt compelled to share some of my knowledge  to right some of the wrongs I see repeated all too commonly by others.

Many people  believe that hypnosis is about either putting someone into an altered  state, telling them to do something, and then that thing will happen, or for the amusement of others on stage, invariably asking them to behave like a chicken! But hypnosis doesn’t work like that. It is not about instant results.

So how does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis re-educates your sub-conscious mind, your habitual responses, and instincts. These develop over a lifetime. It is hardly surprising that they can take some shifting.

Some have an irrational fear of spiders. Even the thought of a spider frightens them. The mind has linked spiders with fear. This is  negative self- hypnosis.

We can use hypnosis to change this response. We can take deliberate control of the way you feel by relaxing you, and having you imagine things that make you feel good, and then have you rehearse the phobia while in a happy, controlled state.

Sounds simple, doesn’t it? And it is! There are many subtleties involved as well, but this is the most fundamental use for hypnosis. Changing your emotional reaction – how you feel about something.

It has so many applications…
If you’re a smoker, change how you feel about cigarettes.
If you’re trying to lose weight, change how you feel about fatty and sugary foods.
If you dislike public speaking, change how you feel about that.

About exercise, about achieving, about yourself, …
The list really is endless. And all from one ‘simple’ tool.

One thing I always make clear to my clients is that hypnosis has not been successful until it has changed an individual’s behaviour and their response to a situation. It is only in the white heat of battle that success or failure an be determined.

No-one can  call themselves changed or cured  until they have done what they were aiming to do, while feeling the way they wanted to feel.

Once that has happened, you are changed. Your experience is changed. And no-one can ever take that away.

The sub-conscious mind learns  quickly and so effectively, how can we use hypnosis to teach it new things? The sub-conscious mind needs a clear message about what you want from it.

This is  at the core of all hypnosis.

Once you understand this, you will understand the central mechanism of almost all self-help approaches – positive thinking, visualisation, autogenics, the Silva method – all sorts. They all use this device.

When you can do something without thinking, you have assigned it to your sub-conscious mind, such things as talking, driving, writing, walking, eating, catching a ball and so on. It is  achieved by repetition, and enhanced  by attaching emotion to it.

For instance, you  might have an embarrassing experience and afterwards, you only need think of it to blush , an involuntary response.

You have a terrifying experience and afterwards, any situation similar to it makes you feel anxious.

A film makes you laugh. Afterwards, just thinking of the scene makes you smile.

The common factor to all these scenarios is emotion. Emotion makes the pattern stick. The greater the emotion, the more stuck it becomes, and the greater the effect in the future.

Using hypnosis  trains your brain to focus on what you want, not on what you don’t want, giving you control over the contents of your thoughts, reinforcing the positive, and decoupling the negatives.

There is no way of knowing what you will experience during regression therapy.

People’s experiences can be very different. Some people may see glimpses of several past lives, whilst others may delve into one life in more detail, unearthing repressed memories that no longer serve them.

You may have been described by friends as an old soul or feel you have lived before. Some people can visit a place for the first time, yet instantly feel that it is familiar. Others speak of meeting someone for the first time yet feel as if they have known them all their lives.

A sound, smell, dream, or reaction to a situation can trigger memories of a past life experience. The smell of a perfume that your mother wore.

Some clients talk of souls that have chosen to reincarnate together such as partners, siblings, or friends to carry out tasks. An example would be a daughter who acts like the mother of the family or a strong connection with a relative who may have been your brother in a past life.

Some people may try past life regression out of curiosity, to see who they were in the past.

Others are in search of a path for personal growth and healing. Both are equally valid reasons for embarking on this therapy.

If you are feeling stuck in certain ways of thinking, feelings and behaviours, hypnotherapy can help enormously. It assists you in reframing negative thoughts and behaviours and encourages you to understand the reasons for this. It can help tip the feeling of loss upside down and allow you to view it in a positive way as you move to a higher understanding of situations. For example, instead of feeling like a relationship was a failure, hypnotherapy can help you see how the relationship helped you learn, understand, grow, and become more compassionate.

You hold the key to release yourself from past trauma, dreams and attachments from past lives locked in your memory. You will see things from a different perspective and realise you are more than what you see .
Opening the doors to past life records and working with them helps to release the chains of the past.  

As a client, you are fully awake and aware of everything going on around you. When I ask you a question, you have control of your mouth and body and express through words, what you are sensing (feeling, seeing hearing, knowing), what you are experiencing in your memory or what feels like your “imagination”.


To traverse through these memories, we discuss the issues that you would like to address at the beginning of the session.During my hypnosis sessions, there may be times when loved ones, lost souls, extra-terrestrials, or other beings have a message for my clients. You may just be curious but for those looking deeper for answers – there is soul work to do.
