We all need healing at some point in our lives and more and more people are turning to alternative medicine – reflexology is one of them.
There are many types of therapies and although different in name and style, they all aim to achieve the same results.
Reflexology is about , it is here the therapist works to balance a system of dis-ease by increasing flow though the meridians and energy channels.
While most people associate reflexology with the feet, hand reflexology has certain advantages in situations of time and place, or like me, if you have trouble reaching your feet sometimes.
The best advantage is that you can treat yourself in public, such as on a bus or aeroplane.
Reflexology is based on the concept of the energy travelling down zones. The reflex areas on the hands and feet correspond to organs, structures and parts of the body. Treatment involves applying pressure to these reflex areas to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanisms.
The benefits of hand reflexology is it calms the system, giving total physical and mental relaxation. It also provides pain relief as it has an anaesthetic effect on the nerve supply and improves circulation of the blood and lymph, which boosts the immune system to stimulate the body’s own healing system.
Besides getting organs to work efficiently it also relieves stress, detoxifies and assists in the release of past traumas. It is a great therapy to use when recovering from injury or surgery as it is not as invasive as other therapies and there is no need to undress, be on a couch or be moved about.
It is great for headaches. In 1995 the National Board of Health studied 220 people who were experiencing chronic headaches. Each patient was checked over prior to the study and kept a diary during. 78 reflexologists covered treatments over a three-month period.
The results showed that 81 per cent were either cured or helped and 19 per cent dispensed with drugs.
So, when you next think of hitting the pain killers think hand and start massaging the zones. There are a number of books on the subject, plenty of information on youtube and the internet.
The next time you reach for the pills, why not give hand reflexology a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.[/cs_text][/cs_column][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_image type=”none” src=”https://jane-osborne.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/hand-reflexology.jpg” alt=”” link=”false” href=”#” title=”” target=”” info=”none” info_place=”top” info_trigger=”hover” info_content=””][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][/cs_content]
