Initially, some view Power Animals with suspicion. That is perhaps because in the modern world we are consumed by technology and modernism, spending too little time considering what the past may teach us about the present, and the future.
In prehistoric times, before formal writing communication was established, cave painting was a means by which people could express themselves, and their knowledge. Strikingly, whether the caves are in Spain, Eqypt, North or South America, certain animals are depicted time and time again. Owls, eagles, snakes, bears and lions, for instance, to name but five. Animals have been significant in our lives since the beginning of humankind.
Moving forwards into recorded history, it is also notable how similar some of the myths and legends relating to animals can be, even though they come from people on different parts of the planet. Perhaps it is simply the qualities of certain animals which are revered, admired, and sometimes feared? Perhaps those animal qualities are seen as being useful in human existence? Perhaps they are able to communicate beyond their own species, maybe even to us? Maybe their messages are general and cross species, but could they also communicate personally to us?
Traditionally, some animals have been regarded as the harbingers of good, and bad, luck. Why? Some see certain animals either in their dreams, or physically around them with an unexplained frequency. My workshops seek to look at some of the ancient traditions of Power Animals, to understand what significance they might hold, and what relevance they may offer our everyday lives.
Whether you simply want to explore the tradition, or whether you have had supernatural experienced regarding some animals, my workshops are designed to help you make sense of it all and help you to explore an aspect of the natural which seems to be becoming increasingly distant in an urban, technologically dominated world.
